I did have to create a /etc/hosts entry because I'm not currently running an internal DNS server. The updated sane-backends sane-backends-1.0.20 using a user-prepared RPM, then following the steps here to use sane-pixma with the saned network driver. I did have to compile the cups-bjnp driver.
